Mountaindood was a great example of this phenomenon. Superficially, he seemed like a pretty good guy and a solid poster... until one day you step back for a minute and realize that he's a legit, hardcore, 100% serious SonicYouth defender. Not just a defender, an active rabid fanboi who constantly brought him up apropos of nothing and thought he was the best thing to ever happen to XO and his victims kind of deserved what they got.
nyuug? Seems like a sweetheart, and of course us old-timers will always have a special fondness for him, and... oh, right, he totally dickrides the hell out of UVT. Basically idolizes him. (Oh, and he's pretty damn fond of Sonic, too, just FYI.)
twist is on to something--I don't know if it's an Asian guy thing, an XO thing, or an Asian-guys-on-XO thing, but shit just starts to get weird after awhile man. Like one minute you're just two frogs sitting in a nice pot of cool water shooting the shit, and the next minute your skin is coming off as the steam bubbles explode and burn you to death while your fellow frog is still chilling, sitting there smiling and talking about how honestly if you THINK about it, outing isn't really *that* bad, and Sonic was actually one of the best things that ever happened to this board, and it's not that weird to post a 100-photo collage of random women to prove that Asian guys definitely get laid just as much as anyone else, and as your brain shuts down you're just left wondering how the fuck all of this insanity snuck up on you without you noticing the incremental shifts and it's awful man. |
