“There is no typical day at Fredrikson & Byron. Every day of work presents new and exciting opportunities. The summer associate experience is challenging, intellectually stimulating and a lot of fun because the program seamlessly blends hard work and an exciting social calendar. I thoroughly enjoyed my summer at Fredrikson and would recommend highly recommend it to other law students.
I had the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects within various practice groups. The attorneys at Fredrikson really make an effort to find interesting and instructive projects for the summers to work on. They always expect a finished and polished product, but are incredibly helpful along the way. The structure of the program ensures that the summers have the chance to get involved in many unique projects. Over the course of the summer, I was able to work on a death penalty case, attend a hearing and a mediation, help draft corporate forms and assist in a bankruptcy filing! I never knew what sort of project I would be assigned, which kept the work from being monotonous or dull.
It was clear from observing how the attorneys interacted with each other that Fredrikson is an exceptional place to work. The people are open and friendly and I felt comfortable approaching everyone with questions or for advice. From the shareholders to the first-year associates, everyone is very accessible and always willing to grab lunch or coffee.
The social calendar was wonderful, and afforded us the opportunity to get to know the summer class and the other Fredrikson attorneys quite well. Everyone went out of their way to guarantee we had a good summer. The HR department ensured that we got a good sample of life in Minneapolis, taking us to a Minnesota Lynx game, to First Avenue, and even to a concert at The Dakota! By the end of the summer, the 11 of us had become great friends.
Working at Fredrikson & Byron was a phenomenal experience. The knowledge I gained, the training I received and the relationships I developed made this summer one to remember.” |
