Noooo.... That would mean that there are probably a score more 1Ls from Michigan reading this thread, and the chances of more than one of them being touchy are pretty high.

Tone doesn't come across well on the internet, and tone doesn't come across well when people are stressed. For the next few weeks, you will deal with people who are stressed. Everyone around you will appreciate it if you speak in a soft voice without using swear words when mentioning grades.

It's a nice feeling, but studying for the Bar sucks. There is just something about sitting with an iPod Mini and listening to BarBri lectures all day that takes the satisfaction out of being done. heh. Ah well, only one more month and then I am a working man.

you are of course perfectly right about 1-3.

but i am not talking about spite. i am talking about an apparent anger management problem, his failure to deal with frustration and total lack of social skills (i don't mean the swearing, that's cool, but like you've said yourself, he doesn't understand that he could better just ask his friends--oops, what friends?--instead).

i wouldn't want to work with a moron like this on lr. well, why are we kidding ourselves, won't happen anyway...

I wouldn't judge anyone by what they said or did in the angst of first grades. There are some very cool people who get uptight or upset from time to time. He chilled eventually, and I don't think he realized that he came off harsher than he intended. I wouldn't judge him based on that one interaction.

And first-semester grades are absorbed almost directly into your bloodstream. They materially alter how you'll view law school over the next three years (although they shouldn't).

It is not exactly blind. The writing component is blind, but in the 2nd and 3rd round, the people have access to your biographical information, your personal statement, and other information you choose to reveal. If you act as an asshole here, chances are this is not the only place where you act that way. Someone might recognize you as "That annoying guy" and might subsonciously not push very hard for your admission. On the margins, it might make a difference.

While acting out of spite is inappropriate when making LR admission decisions, it is absolutely appropriate to select people with positive attitudes who can work with others.
