As you all know, I recently copped DAT driver's license and have been looking around for a used car.
Initially, I wanted a Mustang or Camaro but these cars are literally double what they cost stateside so I decided against them.
Asked my cousin to help me out and he introduced me to his friend who is a used car salesman. Wasn't a sketchy guy because my cousin has been friends with this dewd for 13 years now.
Saturday, on NYE, I went over to the dealership to check out some cars. Looked at a Tuscani, BMW, and some other cars. Salesdewd mentioned that a civic was on sale, but when he called the owner, apparently it had sold literally the day before so I was fucking pissed.
Then he says he has a different Honda, a 2004 Accord, so I checked it out and instantly knew it was right for me. Was in immaculate condition, and no problems except for an alignment issue, which should be ok after I get some new tires.
When all was said and done, I bought a 2004 Accord EX with LESS THAN 60,000 miles in great condition for 4,061 USD. ALL CASH BUYER. Also, came with navigation and a black box.
Driving the car from the dealership back to my house was a very surreal feeling. It was late night and I was driving along the Han River. Up until that point, I'd always seen the river from a taxi. But to be enjoying the riverside view from my own fucking car? It was a seriously 180 moment I'll never forget.
I had flashbacks of high school and remembered my first car that my dad bought for me: an old Lexus ES300 sedan. And I remembered my dad's first car after he immigrated to the U.S., an old as fuck Plymouth Horizon.
Taking any and all questions on this lovely Monday morning! Also, a happy belated new year for you U.S. posters!

enjoy it, but keep in mind what it is--an older accord that will probably be worth the same no matter how many miles you put on it over the next couple of years.
expect to have to put some money into it
don't go overboard with putting money into it
use it to take some of your primo harem girls places
and numero uno, don't get a drunk driving in it. i don't have any idea what the penalties are for drunk driving in sk, but i'd guess they aren't slaps on the wrist. you want this car to be something you don't regret.

in my area, anyone who paints a car black matte
especially a 13 year old accord
is on government assistance and/or has a criminal record.
take that for what you will

look man, my U.S. license expired in 2013 and i didnt even bother renewing it because i didnt plan on driving in korea
that's 12 years without driving (7 years in korea + 4 years when i was in new york except for summer break) but i wanted to buy a car before i turned 30. i also recently changed employers and have a higher salary. im not going to drive much anyways.
but i gotta say, i felt like a chinese ALL CASH BUYER buying a million dollar malibu home. it was incredible.

i was amazed that it didnt even have 100k miles considering the damn thing is 13 years old
probably the best purchase of my life after LASEK

after going through the buying process, i learned how fucking rigged the system here is:
duties on imports
higher insurance for imports
no lemon laws for used imports
dealer markups for imports
more expensive parts => more expensive to maintain
higher taxes
bunch of these laws were influenced by Korean automakers to rig the system in their favor. think about a fucking genesis which starts at 30k here. it is SHIT PURE SHIT. if you could buy a mustang for 25k here, who the fuck would get a genesis?
fuck hyundai. fuck kia. fuck genesis. fuck all korean cars.

lmfao, don't you always claim to be really well off financially? at least relatively speaking as in you're not rich for seoul, but overall you have a lot of cash and no debt?
but at fucking 30ish years old, you're just now getting your first car and it's this hunk of shit? unbelievable. you're just as delusional about everything else as you are about pussy.

it's all relative.
vis a vis XOXO biglawlers, i truly am a poor. straight up. literally have the tiniest pink salary out of everyone here.
vis a vis the average late 20s seoul dewd? i am straight up ballin.
plus, just owning a car in and of itself is a totally unnecessary luxury in seoul. my accord = shrewd AND decadent. couldn't have gotten a better deal.

bro when you worked for every penny you own, buying your first car - even if it is a 2004 accord - is a huge milestone
cum to seoul, we can pimp the fuck out in my accord
