There are a lot of misconceptions regarding arranged marriages between two Chinese families on XO so I'm here to break down my own experiences. There have been a number of posts asking me "Dartmouth, why don't you get your folks to get you a Chinese wife?" Well playa, let me school you on how it works.

Marriage in China is a lot like a round of negotiations. The key factors that a man brings to the table are: house, salary+job+education, HEIGHT and to a much smaller extent health and looks. Women: Age, Looks and to a much smaller extent height and education. Now before you say Dart, you're just being a picky piece of shit, understand that all I look for is some attraction and if she is easy-going. I've specifically asked my parents that I want to date and marry a chick who is 30-38 because I think she'll be more practical than a 20 something. My extreme lower limit is 27.

Now my mother and father operated a Chinese restaurant for a number of years and though they made some bonehead decisions, they are decent negotiators. And guess what? They are still unable to get a chick to be willing to date and eventually marry me. The only families that are open to continuing negations are those with girls who have severe disabilities and cannot function normally. All the reasonably attractive 30-38 year old women: Sorry he's too SHORT. Oh 350K salary? Ummm...I don't know... no. They relate this to their father, their father being old school curses them out for being too stubborn and then reluctantly tells my parents sorry no go.

One issue used to be that I needed a chick to know some english for communication, but now I don't even care. I just want a family and to raise a kid.
