this despite the fact that germany already had very strict gun laws at this time: "People wanting to buy a hunting rifle must undergo background checks that can last up to a year and those wanting a gun for sport must be a member of a club and obtain a licence from police."
and: "Described in the Library of Congress report as "among the most stringent in Europe," Germany`s laws are almost as restrictive as those which HCI wants imposed in the U.S. Licenses are required to buy or own a firearm, and to get a license a German must prove his or her "need" and pass a government test. Different licenses are required for hunters, recreational shooters, and collectors. As is the case in Washington, D.C., it is illegal to have a gun ready for defensive use in your own home. Before being allowed to have a firearm for protection, a German must again prove "need.""

" most handguns require you to load each successive bullet before you fire it. "
Do you even own any handguns?
A semi-auto handgun fires off all the cartridges which happen to be in the clip that you load into the gun prior to firing it. You can fit an extra cartridge into the chamber.
Did you seriously believe up till this point that every bullet fired by a handgun had to be individually loaded? You are thinking of certain types of rifles and shotguns.

Replace "sloppy" with "utterly and totally accurate" and we have a deal.
It's the same as me saying "Mufflers on cars are nothing special." Or "DVD players on new computers are nothing special."

they *aren't* anything special. christ, even a lot shotguns are semi-automatic.
and you responded to a comment that said they did not have automatics with, "well, one of the hell-bound inbreds had a semi-auto tech 9" as if this was proof they did. that wasn't even sloppy. it was flat out wrong.
and you're tried to fight this "special" thing by saying "it certainly is something "special," because most handguns require you to load each successive bullet before you fire it." that is also wrong. the vast majority of guns available for purchase are semi-automatic.
according to a wikipedia entry: "A semi-automatic option is a common choice on selective fire firearms." according to dictionary.com, antonym's of "common" include: "abnormal, extraordinary, noteworthy, rare, uncommon, unusual". These words are synonymous with "special". Petro was therefore correct to say that there is "nothing special" about semi-automatic weapons. Petro also would have been correct if he had said "nothing extraordinary", "nothing noteworthy", or "nothing rare".
the more you try to argue this the worse you look.
