NYUUG’s main schtick is that he is a playboy in Korea and slaying many Korean and foreign women in Seoul.

RSF seems to think this is impossible given NYUUG’s past and perceived mental illness.

Let me break things down to you.

1) Casual dating in Korea is very very different than the US. Korean women are extremely capable of compartmentalizing men into categories: long-term material, and short-term material. They change and adapt their behaviors accordingly. Many Korean women are slutty as hell, and view sex as an experience or activity. Many American women share this view, but Koreans take it to another level.

2) NYUUG is, on paper, a very desirable short-term relationship material for Korean women. Korean women generally take gold-digging to another level. Most of the most beautiful Korean women and wealthiest Korean women end up with the ugliest men you can imagine. There is no shame in being called a gold digger, as that is expected of you.

Let’s look at NYUUG. He’s reasonably tall (certainly not short for a Korean), appears well-built. He’s not ugly. These are basic prerequisites which he meets. The biggest factor is, he went to NYU. Believe it or not, NYU is associated in Korea as the school for the elite, wealthy and prestigious. It carries more cachet in Korea than possibly HYP. Numerous “fraudsters” in Korea claim to be NYU graduates to impress people. This fact alone will ensure that NYUUG can easily get women. Most women in Korea are average middle class, living in cramped apartments in dead-end jobs. Their available dating pool is mostly similar men, I.e., went to some crap college in the provinces and working dead-end jobs. An NYU graduate is something these women would fawn over and brag to their friends (I dated an NYU guy).

Again, many many Korean women are obsessed with status and what others think about them. This obsession with appearances would help NYUUG pick up women looking to “date up”, or at least, them thinking they are “dating up.”

3) I doubt NYUUG would appeal as a “long-term” guy for the upper-classes of Korean society. These women who went to schools like NYU, Parson, etc., with plenty of family money and drive daddy’s Land Rover...they are looking for a guy with money, background and social status (banker, lawyer, family business). NYUUG never claimed to be “slaying” these types of women, so whatever.

4) Due to Korean women’s obsession with appearances, only the “rebels” or the really poor girls with no better prospects would typically date white men. Being seen publicly with a white guy, for whatever reasons, would be frowned upon by many. This is not to say white people are intrinsically worse (and in many cases, they are probably better), but again, the obsession with appearances would preclude a white guy from competing against someone like NYUUG, for all but the small niche market of rebellious women and really poor women with no prospects.

Just take a look at who former MIss Koreas, models, stewardess, celebrities and wealthy women are married to - wealthy, ugly Korean men.

In conclusion, NYUUG’s experience in Korea (in terms of dating) is really not surprising and should not be this controversial. It is incredibly easy for ANY Korean who went to a famous US university to sleep with women in Korea, even if you are hideously ugly. And very few white guys have great success in Korea, with anyone but the rebels and the poor.

Even among my really attractive, successful white guy friends, although they are very successful with women, the volume and variety of women available to them is much much less than a typical Korean guy who went to school in the US.

5) This is somewhat of a different matter, but I disagree with a lot of what NYUUG says about Korea. The air pollution / traffic here is at absurd levels, Koreans tend to be extremely petty, insecure and judgmental. Keep in mind, 99% of Koreans were peasants for thousands of years until being released from Japanese rule in 1945. This peasant mentality still persists in all aspects of life. There is low crime though, and the country is generally safe.

6) Military service - who gives a shit. None of the upper-class Korean citizens did any “real” military service. They get exempted into BS jobs like staffing the popcorn stand at the US base theatre, or serving as a translator. Most have never even fired a rifle outside of initial basic training, and even then, something like less than 10 rounds. And the poor Korean men that did “real” service? Lol...you mean standing guard and spending all day cleaning and guarding and cleaning? The Korean military doesn’t have money for real training, except for its small active volunteer component.
