I was ranked Cal-I in counterstrike when I was in high school and I was definitely world class.

Edit: I also have won numerous state open bench press competitions in my weight class and the weight class above me through the US Powerlifting Association.

i'd be very impressed if someone were able to accumulate enough skill to be world-class in two or more unrelated subjects in one lifetime but would be pretty skeptical just bc of the time commitment required

i've been lucky enough to be sufficiently strong at a few things to realize just how far from world-class i am (and just how hard such an achievement would be)

for example, when i was younger i was probably within the top 10 violinists in my state of my age, probably more toward the top then the bottom of that range. i didn't attend a conservatory but i was significantly better than a friend of mine who went on to study at cleveland, for example. whenever i competed on a state level, i'd blow away the nearest competitor and it wasn't even close.

BUT, that meant nothing from a national (let alone international) elite level. hell, the best violinist in our state didn't even bother with those competitions, and was probably a solid SD above me in ability.

even the #1 violinist in our state wouldn't call herself a world-class violinist (and she ended up as the principal in a major symphony orchestra and won prizes in a few minor international competitions years later). she would probably describe herself as a "strong professional violinist." a "world-class violinist" title would be reserved for finalists in, say, the Sibelius violin concerto competition or someone who has solo'd with large symphony orchestras.
