But probably most of the people in the class who were ahead of me DID try to at least SOME extent. I think that to be valedictorian you probably have to put in some effort, because getting that extra 2pts on your GPA (100pt scale) can be difficult - it requires that same anal retentiveness that many in ls have. But yes, I feel a little sorry for those people too, because they haven't done anything better than me; in fact probably the opposite is true.
