If we're talking legal claims, no, epic buying a "monopoly" over the distribution of specific games doesn't meet the standards for antitrust action. It's just hypocritical.
It is potentially a clean tortious interference claim though, depending on the specifics of the agreement between the developer and consumer. If Company A contracts with me to sell a steam key, and Company B uses financial incentives to get them to breach their contract with me and send an Epic key instead, that absolutely is actionable tortious interference. |

Apple Inc. AAPL 0.45% said it will allow music, video and other media apps to create in-app links to sign up pages on those companies’ web sites, in effect allowing the likes of Spotify Technology S.A. and Netflix Inc. to bypass the iPhone maker’s cut of subscriptions after being roiled by restrictions for years.
The Cupertino, Calif., tech giant revealed the action Wednesday, saying it was among changes being made to close an investigation by the Japan Fair Trade Commission and will apply globally to so-called reader apps available through Apple’s App Store. |
