Every ten minutes it is sent to a new address, then ten minutes later it's sent to another address with slightly less money. It's doing this over and over and splitting into tens of thousands of wallets. This is called tumbling and it's what hackers to do "clean" hacked funds so they can eventually withdraw them IRL. Most likely someone hacked an FTX wallet or there is a rogue employee who stole the funds.

Nicholas Weaver @ncweaver · 4h This is frankly bizarre, and I'm convinced 90% certain that FTX got hacked. We are seeing a slug of $2B worth of Bitcoin being passed through a "peeling chain", each step takes off a little (a few bucks to a couple thousand) with the rest remaining intact.
Some of the peeled Bitcoin is to new wallets. Some is actually to very old active wallets (e.g. this: https://blockchair.com/bitcoin/address/3Q34R8mDakAhFDzrze8TCZcqjKtSuerc8E )
My suspicion: Stealing $2B in Bitcoin is easy. Laundering $2B is hard. But there is an advantage: FTX can't admit the theft...
If FTX admits it they implode in a nanosecond as they are insolvent. So they keep quiet and deny. In the meantime, the thief's cashout strategy: Peel off Bitcoin. Some of it to just garbage wallets. Some of it is Robin Hodled and sent to existing wallets.
Heck, waste most of it in the end, but keep about 1% and throw that through mixers, chain swaps, and other techniques. And keep doing it just $1k at a time. And walk away with with a huge paycheck.
And if FTX dares complain, send the rest to 1BitcoinEaterAddressDontSendf59kuE
The alternate interpretation, that this is FTX in offline-signature mode doing some peeling, is lunacy. It would mean they didn't just move MOST of the slug into cold storage and split off the amount to distribute in a separate hunk first, which is frankly bizarre.
Plus, peeling is O(N) time, so it takes forever. Doing a tree split is O(lg(N)) time to complete.
Also, if this is an automated system that dumped a TON of signatures, they could easily stop the chain: Just have replacement transaction signed, just a little ahead (you have the TXID needed to do it), with a high fee. Now it goes to that transaction, and the chain dies.

Assume an address has a single UTXO associated with it equal to 1 BTC. If the owner of that address wants to send .2 BTC to another address, it will result in 2 UTXOs. 1 will be the .2 UTXO to the recipient address, with the balance constituting a separate UTXO to an address that is controlled by the sender's private key. This second transaction is often referred to as a transaction to a "change address."
The big amount of BTC associated with FTX that keeps moving from address to address is the "change address" with the small amount being peeled off constituting withdrawals, at least according to SBF's narrative. |

3. SOL and SRM are trading down ~5% but the hilarious part is that only represents the small slice of money on exchanges. Obviously most people and all the whales have their tiny pink SOL on cold wallets that they can't move because SOL and its entire garbage ecosystem is down. When this piece of shit finally goes online it's going to be such a giant red dildo that not even nyuug's exposed bulgogi hole could handle it.
4. Apparently the exploit is not a quick fix and is tied to a fundamental flaw in the platform. i.e., this could take weeks to fix lmao.
5. You link to a tweet confirming that SBF keeps $2bn of client funds on a hot wallet that is (for completely unexplained reasons) using a complicated "peel off" method to distribute funds that no exchange seems to have ever used before. SBF - keep in mind this is the genius who is supposed to be fixing his SOL chain which is 100% offline - says that he will be doing a livenet adjustment to this algo, which again is responsible moving client funds. this is supposed to reassure everyone here? BTW, this is the **most** charitable explanation that assumes he isn't straight up lying and the funds weren't stolen (probably were).
6. Despite all of the above, exeunt (considered a crypto genius) appears completely unaware of the shitstorm that is approaching. Then again he probably SOL'd weeks ago after convincing board morons to buy his centralized shitcoin bags.
