I would think it would be somewhat easier in a way to learning something like Spanish or French since you don't need to get hung up on saying everything correctly.
But more importantly, will knowing Latin help me get laid?

What makes you think I've read things in Greek?
Okay, truthfully, when I was a freshman in college, I checked out an ancient Greek textbook from the library and got past the first two lessons.

what's odd is that attic isn't even the most prominent or widely spoken dialect of the day.
and it's what we learn as the basis of greek.

I just checked my OCD and it seems like there is more written in Doric than Attic (Attic came from Ionic and Aeolic), and most people think of Plato, Demosthenes, and Aristotle (who did use Attic).

yeah, but, to be honest, i think that they just do it because they figure that if somebody only reads one or two texts, they'd rather say that it was Plato/Socrates than anything else.
like, I went to read some doric poetry a while ago, and it only took about 15 min to get over the differences.
just silly form changes and things like that.
and some things pertaining to contract forms.

one of the most annoying courses that i ever took was Intro to Greek Metre.
I remember like nothing of it.
All we did was go through the various metres, origins, kinds, variations, and examples.
the final was brutal.
i have no idea how i did it. we had to memorize 5 lines of every kind of metre (to recite) and then the written was worse.
examples of metre and we had to identify the style, period, and anomalies.
for 1 fucking credit

oh god. That sounds like absolute hell.
I was really lucky, our Greek professor was really laid back, and as long as you could get the basic idea of passages he would pass you. The previous professor would always fail at least half of her classes.

"Yeah because you never use it, so you forget it quickly."
I think that's true for any foreign language that most people would take during high school and/or college.

we had to take two semesters of foreign language.
edit: it varied by language how much you had to take.
