As a corrolary, what is the public policy decision in lowering the standards for a rape trial? |

I think it's just a fact of life that if a fairly attractive woman drinks at a party or bar without close friends who carefully watch and protect her, she is running the risk of getting raped. Women can minimize this risk by buying their own drinks, watching the person who makes them, and having friends/significant others who watch them and don't let them go home with other people if it seems like the woman isn't making a conscious choice. But women who don't do so are placing themselves at risk. (I'll leave judgment as to the morality of this all to others.)

They don't hire laterally, so the firm will hesitate to fire anyone because it needs the manpower. When it realizes there's a douchebag in the firm, it nevertheless has a strong incentive to keep him on board because they can't get anyone else to fill his shoes.
Perhaps this happened with the child rape guy (he wasn't a lateral I believe... he started there as a 1st year). |
