Fuck globohomo Target, but LJFL @ the handwaving (they hath inthursanth!) ITT.
If Target is getting fucked this badly, just imagine how much worse it is for small businesses.
But sure, its all good because target has black theft insurance.

In normal times, Target was pretty renowned for having some pretty top-of-the-line loss prevention, including running their own crime lab that would sometimes help out in police investigations that didn't have anything to do with Target

[INT. JERRY'S APARTMENT - DAY]
Jerry is in his kitchen making a sandwich as George sits at the counter, flipping through a magazine. Kramer bursts into the apartment, slamming the door behind him. He looks disheveled, clutching a package under his arm.
KRAMER: (panicking) You won't believe what just happened, Jerry! I saw a guy swipe a candy bar from the store down the street!
JERRY: (unimpressed) And this is news because?
GEORGE: (chuckles) Oh, come on, Jerry. Everybody knows that stores just write off their losses from theft.
JERRY: (raising an eyebrow) Write it off? How does that even work?
GEORGE: (leaning in, eager to explain) You see, Jerry, when a store's merchandise gets stolen, they can claim it as a loss on their taxes. So, they just "write it off" and it's like it never happened.
JERRY: (skeptical) You're telling me that stores get a tax break for having things stolen from them?
GEORGE: (smugly) That's right. It's a little thing called a "shrinkage allowance." So, in a way, the store actually profits from the theft!
JERRY: (still unconvinced) And who pays for that "shrinkage allowance," George?
GEORGE: (pausing) Well, I don't know, Jerry. The government, I guess?
KRAMER: (nodding) Yeah, it's like a safety net, Jerry. Everybody wins.
JERRY: (sarcastically) Right. Because the government just has piles of money lying around to hand out for stolen candy bars.
GEORGE: (defensive) Well, it's not just candy bars, Jerry. It's all kinds of merchandise! Clothes, electronics, you name it. It's a legitimate business strategy!
JERRY: (smirking) So what you're saying is, we should all start stealing from stores and just let the government cover the costs?
GEORGE: (confused) Well, no, I... I didn't say that.
KRAMER: (excited) Hey, maybe we could open our own store and write off all the losses from theft!
JERRY: (exasperated) You two are unbelievable. You know that's not how it works, right? Stores still suffer from theft, and they have to implement security measures and raise prices to compensate for the losses. We, as customers, end up paying for it one way or another.
GEORGE: (dismissive) Oh, come on, Jerry. It's just a little shrinkage!
JERRY: (shaking his head) You'd know all about shrinkage, wouldn't you, George?
George glares at Jerry as Kramer chuckles, and they all go back to their previous activities. The conversation shifts to something else, but the absurdity of their exchange lingers in the air.
