I think my wife and I have 3 or so bikes for our kids. They never try to ride them and even if they did, there’s no where safe for them to ride to. |

Over time, kids cleared trails, built up hills, plywood ramps, etc to the point that it was like a bmx obstacle course. The biggest tree in the area had hollow, cave-like areas under the roots that we used to make a small fort. At some point, older kids must have taken up residence there because we found empty beer bottles. Those we used for contests, lobbing them for distance towards the main road to see if we could shatter them from the fort. We got caught doing that and I was grounded. There is a skate park by our batting cages and my son has seen kids from little league there without parents. I grew up with zero limits and have no issues sending kids off to play wherever they want. Go to the beach. Walk to the store. Whatever. My wife was an only child and constantly freaks out. Only now are they allowed in the forest. We even built a club house. |
