Take any individual slot - before a white or Asian person would have received it, now a black person does. Its zero sum. You took it away from one person in the country and gave it to another. Therefore, it does nothing to "educate the population of the US." |

In terms of schools at the bottom, if someone fails to get into a TTT, then they're screwed - white, Asian, black, native American, Hispanic, etc. |

on some level they're right. in order for an ambitious poor black kid to earn an education and a good job he's going to have to change a LOT... the way he talks, the way he thinks, the way he lives... by the end of it, he has arguably accepted a large set of values and customs believed and practiced predominantly by successful whites (who do not even seem that well off despite incredible material wealth).
in a way it's a lose-lose situation, and slacking off in school and staying in the hood is much easier (if by some miracle it's not the only possibility), so that's usually happens. |

Most successful people are lawyers, doctors, businessmen, engineers, scientists, and academics, all of which are required to be smart, articulate, and hard-working.
I can't believe you see nothing wrong with the current path of black America - its been a complete disaster. You're talking the poorest, least educated, most crime ridden, shortest living portion of population despite tons of handouts. Smart, hardworking, and articulate isn't subjective. Smart is IQ, hardworking is work ethic, articulate - look at top academics, writers, etc. As for inarticulate blacks with no education who make good money dealing only with other blacks, how? articulate can mean the ability to communicate with people who only know ebonics or improper english. being articulate might mean that you can communicate with the upper middle class as well as the lower class. smart has nothing to do with IQ see James Kim, and the numurous blacks that have never taken a standardized test but could hustle you into the ground with their business savvy. I do agree that hard work is universal. However, in corperate america hard work might mean swallowing your pride or eating crow or kissing ass, some blacks choose not to go that route, it does not mean they are not hardworking. Trust me, I know scores of successful blacks, personally that do not deal too much with white people, do not have "education", and are very intelligent to me, though I would never talk with them about a book I've read because they probably don't read much other than books that can help them make money, and they probably wouldnt "test" that well either, but I'm just speculating.
black america is not a complete disaster. black people have overcome alot and are still growing. Its only been forty years since black people were given the right to vote, be employed, and live in certain neigborhoods. cut some slack. not everyone can be a lucky wang |
