Another big thing here is that their food just was never that good, and the market is much more competitive - same thing that happened to Pizza Hut.

McDonald's is somewhat immune to this because their food is so iconic, but not many people are going to Burger King if in the same shopping complex there's a Chick Fil A, Five Guys, Chipotle, Panera, Culvers, etc.
