I wasn't sure what I thought about having to play a specific person, but the other characters in the game more than make up for it (combat doesn't seem as good as baldur's gate, but the dialogue and cool species are more than cool enough to make up for it and it is nice to have quests that aren't related to violence). Anyway, thanks for the rec. I'll do the whole Baldur's Gate again, but it's nice to take some time to play other things. I also got the Star Wars game, and I might give that a run through before I go back to elves and gnomes. |

I'd like to finish Neverwinter at some point, but I can't really get used to the henchman system. It seems sort of dumb. 6 or 4 or whatever is artificial too, but at least I could understand that a group of people setting out on an adventure would need to limit their numbers because it's too hard to make decisions in a party of 50000000 or because they didn't want to divide the loot too many ways. It's hard for me to think of a reason a rational person would keep their party so small that they couldn't have both a cleric and a thief in it at the same point, which is what the Neverwinter system seems to do. |

Still, I'm kind of committed to the idea of giving it a fair shot on the possibility that it gets better (the same way I try to read books at least halfway through before deciding they suck).
If you've played more of the game than me and can assure me that it doesn't improve, I might reconsider in light of your higher Wisdom stat. |

The game also had no story whatsoever. It reminded me of Diablo II, but was not nearly as fun as even that game. |

Neverwinter Nights 2 is pretty good, though. You get a real party, and the characters are decent. |
