irrigation guy showed up last wednesday, and he was really good and efficient. nice white boomer guy; former fireman.

was here for 2.5 hrs, and spent a lot of time diagnosing the problem. discovered 2 broken pvc pipes and a broken wire, and repaired the 2 broken pvc. also fixed several sprinklers unrelated to the landscaping work.

as for the broken wire, he said running a new wire would be far more cheap than trying to dig up a broken wire and find the break. he said he'd some back tomorrow (last thursday) and rewire it and install a new controller.

i asked how we should deal with payment, and he said we'll square up at the end. so i've paid him $0 and he's out 2.5 hrs and some parts.

he didn't show thursday. haven't heard from the guy since wednesday. texts unanswered. calls are going directly to vm. makes me think he has some issue or got arrested or something.

talked to the neighbor, and hes like, come to think of it, something similar happened to me several years ago and he had a fam emergency. i dunno why he cant just answer a simple text, but he showed up eventually.

at this point, i can just buy my own timer and find someone else to install it and lay down a new wire -- which isnt that much work, since the original guy did all the hard work of the diagnosis. these irrigation guys all probably have minimums, so having to pay 2 guys is inefficient.

if i ever hear from guy #1 again, how much would i owe him? is a deduction appropriate for my hassle and inconvenience in having to waste time finding a new guy now, and now having to manually run one sprinkler zone from the valve box ?
