Date: June 6th, 2025 10:55 AM Author: Excitant fat ankles school the nature of the arrangement there is over the head of most populists unfortunately the post-war consensus between the US and Europe was, is, and continues to be extremely lucrative for the united states government, the american public, and the status of global stability and order. if anybody is getting the short end of the stick there it's the europeans, and even that has decent benefit for the EU nations. it's a trade off and one that EU leaders have historically been content with trump is just using an uninformed public to squeeze blood from a stone, claiming to the people that we're getting screwed while being completely ignorant of the mechanics at work that make it a very good and beneficial arrangement for US interests. penny wise, pound foolish type stuff in the long run. the administration seems intent on squandering an inheritance that belongs to the people of this country on behalf of grifters and israel's desire to be freed from European diplomatic accountability on the Palestinian issue. there are legitimate claims re: NATO provisions for defense spending and trade ties with china (admittedly completely hypocritical coming from the US) but this is something that needs to happen between diplomats in meeting rooms and is not a matter to rile up the public about. |
