When the French Revolution intercepted Louis XVI's letters to the other monarchies in Europe he essentially said I own everything in this country and the Revolution is insane. I'm only playing along with these people to bide time but when the monarchy is restored I'm going to make sure everyone knows it's all my personal property.
It's kooky but people who receive life altering presents from their parents universally feel entitled to them. Even if they are rich and everyone else on Earth is poor. It's still theirs. Even if it's wealth of an entire nation. It's still their property in their estimation.
In light of that it's pretty easy to see why people who were literally starving to death cut all these people's heads off.

the intent of the hypo is to ask why he has to tip for something that is so easy to do (bring wine which the restaurant already gets bottled) as opposed something he perceives as harder to do (bring food which the restuarant has to make) hence the objection that it doesn't fucking matter bc the server does the same amt of work
your explanation also makes zero sense becuase there is nothing about drinks that warrants tipping less except for the fact that the restaurant doesn't have to prepare it like they do food

The restaurant patron willingly pays this absurd upcharge under the implicit agreement that he's doing so for the pleasure of enjoying a time out. Now imagine being OK with tipping the establishment $80 but thinking that a waiter doesn't deserve $20. You've already tipped some rich asshole 4x that amount. And what was the 'skill' the owner had? Being rich and running a business?
But I agree with you fraud is wrong. And some waiters steal people's credit cards. Restaurants that double charge people are likely failing as a business and falling behind. Waiters who steal should be prosecuted. |
