his first hundred days were insane. it's crazy how quickly even people on xo are focused on the current thing. the tariffs shit sucked (i agreed with the spirit of the policy but his constant dithering is terrible), iran sucks, and seemingly having forgotten about ukraine sucks. overall he's doing great and certainly the most impactful first six months of a POTUS term in my life.

i think the issue is that politically obsessed people often expect things to change on a dime, which is truly retarded considering how much they follow politics and it never happening. consuela arguing trump is a failure because of 2025 spending when trump has little impact on the 2025 budget that was passed before he was elected is funny.

trump literally activated the national guard to enforce immigration policy against the protests of a state governor and people will still say he is phoning it in. a lot of people expect everything to complete change when a new potus is sworn in and are inevitably disappointed. this is the root cause of the blackpill.

trump's '16 term was like galaga level 1 and the libs were chuckling as they shot his guys down one by one. trump '24 is like level 31 and he's changing direction and coming too fast for them to handle

you're forgetting the massive dud (after a ton of buildup) that was DOGE and the Big Beautiful Porkbarrel Bill. someone who voted for Trump for reasons other than immigration (which of course tbf is his signature issue) or supporting Israel has legitimate reasons to be blackpilled right now.

i don't see how trump could do anything as drastic is empowering elon musk to have free reign over cutting as much spending as possible. as far as the budget, we'll see what it looks like when it passes, but even if trump was ron paul levels of fiscally conservative there is a limit to how much POTUS can do.

this is the most i've seen happen in my lifetime. people have legitimate reasons to be blackpilled if they took trump's bravado at face value. i suppose those people are also right to be blackpilled trump didn't end the ukraine war in 24 hours.

trump has drastically overperformed my expectations for him and is overperforming every other POTUS in my lifetime. i'm not defending his bluster and do think it's unbecoming of a POTUS, i'm just saying he's doing a great job relative to other recent POTUS's and my expectations.

Doge was musks fault he fucking blew it

Resistance from the legal machine was obviously going to be the point of failure in the doge efforts and he hired zero lawyers or did any planning or thinking whatsoever about the legal hurdles they would face

I appreciate his efforts but you're the richest man in the world. Just hire some fucking lawyers man

they hire lawyers to fix their messes which is exactly how the most successful businesses work. bringing lawyers into operations is exactly the type of shit that made 2016 so ineffective.

with so much internal resistance the only real effective strategy is "move fast, break stuff" and sending a techbro in with a flamethrower. i wish it wasn't the case and it's so stupid and wasteful but it turns out we don't have the luxury of being reasonable and deliberate when the entrenched establishment you're trying to reform is not acting in good faith. this is what restructuring companies typically fire almost all of the management overnight when they take over.

I hate lawyers and "The Law" but almost everything doge did has been undone by legal fiat because they didn't bother to lead with lawfare and coherent legal strategies

Unless you are going to declare yourself above the law and a dictator, which they clearly were not and are not ever going to do (understandable, despite us all wishing they'd do this), you have to justify everything you do within the legal system

Musk was just too arrogant and lazy to do this so he failed. Simple as

i think they've done as much as could reasonably be expected. and also trump, and every potus, delegates everything and owns his subordinates decisions so if you feel DOGE was a failure that is just as attributable to trump as everything trump does.

also they're still doing work finding shit. getting anything done within the federal government, let alone finding "waste", is insanely hard. musks little budget hissy fit seems to have clearly derived from his frustration with this.

i don't think adding lawyers into the operations process would have helped and this is coming from the POV of a guy who works regularly as a lawyer on matters involving this shit.

No one thinks critically about this stuff they just have existing opinions/worldview that will never change no matter what happens in reality

We just had an unambiguous, consequential geopolitical event in which it was made clear beyond a shadow of a doubt that Israel/Jewish influence does not control US international policy. But none of the people who claim that Israel/Jewish influence controls US international policy will ever admit they are wrong about this worldview or adjust their priors about it

People like all of the guys blank bumping this don't actually care about anything other than whatever Ego-Preserving Cinematic Universe they live in where no matter what happens, their self-serving worldview that makes them feel good and smart is always correct. The consuelas of this world are the rule not the exception

"Ego-Preserving Cinematic Universe"

the saddest thing about 2025 is seeing just how blatantly partisan and unprincipled so many based xoxo type cons actually are. hilarious to watch people who claim israel is their #1 issue get irate about mamdani because he's a "socialist" with a D next to his name instead of a "populist" with an R next to it.
