Why I make "life sucks" threads each night [pensive]

I enjoy taking the Biglaw-oriented anxieties on this board and magnifying them to an extent that is whiny and pathetic but, at the same time, hilarious. Most of the biglaw posters seem to feel that they are being owned by a stupid, crude upper class (see: "banking pwns law" threads) which has been the thrust of my previous world-hating posts. I have no idea whether or not this is, in any way, related to reality because I know nothing about biglaw.
2. I find it amusing to post with emotional fervor on topics I know nothing about, especially "big picture" society-wide issues that are irrelevant to my (or anyone's) daily life.
3. I just had a job that went against me for reasons that weren't really my fault. This really has nothing to do with the "society" issues I trolled over the past week, but I need to vent. Exaggerating and universalizing the worst parts of something shitty makes for depressing conclusions and dark discussions-- in other words, comedy.
4. The schtick works. Three of the most recent self-pity threads have gone over 100 posts. I can take ridiculous thoughts-- usually related to self-indulgent sorrow-- and post them on this board, where they are taken seriously as if they were said in earnest.
5. Beneath my thick crust of awe-inspiring prestige, I'm just a scared little boy. Or some mumbo-jumbo like that.
6. I am one of the best trolls in the history of the Internets, and I have to show off my range. Only I can go from self-inflating prestige rants, as a convincing blueblood, to incoherent society-hating self-pity, as a convincing angry "poor", within the space of less than a day and still have it work. Other geniuses devote their brilliance to the arts and sciences; I devote mine to disruption. (And yes, I am genius level when it comes to trolling.) Admit it: I am just fucking awesome. |

I haven't looked it up, but I'd imagine an aspect of maturity is the ability to surround oneself with high-quality people and ideas and ignore the wasteland of suckassitude.

Most of the board associates us because of our legendary board-pwns of the fall of 2005. A majority of the posting population thought Media Kid, a schtick run mostly by me (with a couple other people involved), was a boarding-school friend of 174. This nonexistent person (Media Kid, that is) received frequent emails from posters asking him to out 174. |
