Everyone was happy, xoxodungeonmaster released xoxo cards, all was swell until things got all fucked up with mods and secret mods and thread deletions, and competition shut-down etc right?

sugarywitch was picked so she could take out references to her name when she saw them without having to bug someone else to do it. Same with Earl.
We also weren't done picking people. If dungeonmaster wanted the job, he would've had it.

1) NYCFan
2) You should have picked qualified people. If someone overstepped their bounds they can easily be tracked demodded. You should have picked non-controversial people to be mods, not people almost EVERY poster hates.

Almost every poster hates MindTheGap, chancemeeting, Joe Caltech, Rowan, Earl, Hazelrah, jane hoya? The fact remains that those people were the best qualified for the job -- I know them, they know me, and I know they wouldn't have made things difficult for me by making bad decisions.
I've already explained NYCFan. I don't know why people here keep insisting that I should have publicly humiliated one of the best posters on the college board, especially after the mod interface was changed to allow wrongfully deleted threads and posts to be recovered at the click of a button and to keep track of who made those deletions.
Once again, I think people are making a mountain out of a molehill and creating drama for the sake of drama.

"Who cares if he promotes his school?"
Me, and lots of others. You asked why I don't like him; that's your answer.
And anyway, he does much more than "promote"- he trolls constantly and in an exceedinly annoying manner. Please don't pretend to be blind to this- even he has conceded that he sounds like an asshole online.
"The fact is it would have no impact on whether he deletes a thread or not."
Probably true, but part of the animosity here is that people don't want unliked posters given power. Seems pretty reasonable, really- try putting yourself in our shoes. You're free to disagree, of course, but I think I'm accurately relaying the feelings of many.

I was in your shoes. I was on PR along with everyone else. And I've seen how bad having an elite mod class can be from what happened early on with LSP.
I guess I don't understand why people just don't trust us to do what's right in these situations. What could we possibly get from turning this into another PR?

"I guess I don't understand why people just don't trust us to do what's right in these situations. "
You secretly moded NYCFan after creating a board that escaped tyrant mods. You reinstated NYCFan to spite posters. You won't remove NYCFan when he's proven a poor mod because of your pride. You delete NYCFan's personal information in spite your own outing policy.
Yeah I'm sure people have no reason to distrust you two faggots.

NYCFan was outed against his will, so his name gets removed, just like everyone else.
As I said earlier, the new mod interface was created to deal with NYCFan. There was no downside to keeping him on -- if he's kept on and he does a great job, then we have an effective moderator. If he starts to abuse his power again, then all the threads get restored and he gets the boot. In both cases, no harm is done by giving him another chance. I'm sorry that being loyal to people who have done a lot for this community upsets you so much.

Loyalty at the expense of integrity. Spoken like true idiot.
You wonder why people have no faith or trust in the mods. It's because YOU DON"T HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS.

If NYCFan had been moded publically, at the consent of the majority of posters, or had stayed demoded the first fucking time instead of remoded to spite posters, or was demoded the second time...then maybe people would trust the mods. You kept making one retarded mistake after another. At the moment, people have no reason to trust the mods because you appoint and defend mods who have proven to do wrong.
But explaining integrity to someone like you is completely futile. Enjoy law because it seem like a great fit for you.

I'm not trying to turn the site into something it's not, I just want to have other people handle the grunt work. That's it.
If the people chosen were so bad, who should have been mods?

And measures were taken so that if he did inappropriately delete a thread the thread could be instantly recovered at the click of a button and we'd know that he was responsible for it.
If he kept deleting threads that shouldn't be deleted even after getting a stern talking to from me, then he would obviously have been demodded. But what harm could possibly come from giving him another chance? There was literally no downside -- if he does a great job, we have an effective moderator. If he does a bad job, all his damage can be immediately undone and we can get rid of him then. Insisting that he be removed despite the new mod interface served no purpose except to put me and rachmiel in a very awkward situation that could have resulted in no benefit to anyone.

But we have to trust our moderators too, and you're pretty much saying that the people we know and trust the most and who we know aren't going to screw around or overstep their bounds shouldn't be mods because they're not as popular as other posters. Can you understand why that would make me upset? You're basically saying I should give control over the site to people I know nothing about and in some cases may not even trust just because they're "popular."
And enough with NYCFan. It should already be crystal clear to everyone that I didn't approve of his actions and, one way or another, he was going to stop deleting inappropriate threads.

"And enough with NYCFan. It should already be crystal clear to everyone that I didn't approve of his actions"
You make this so clear by keeping him as a mod. And even in a petition thread with a 100+ post to remove NYCFan, you said nothing at all. Yes, so clear. Douche

Maybe we were wrong and missed something with him. Maybe we were right and everyone else was being unfair. Who knows. What I do know is that the attacks on him were counterproductive and made the whole situation a lot worse than it had to have been.

I don't think you realize just how much I have to deal with IRL because of things people do on this board. Let's look at what happened just this week:
1) Several law school deans think I'm behind T14 Talent and begin to contact Penn's dean trying to get me suspended / screwed for character and fitness / threatening to contact my firm / etc., causing me to spend several hours explaining to everyone that it was not run by me but by some other guy.
2) Some girls from the T14 Talent contest hired ReputationDefender, who also contacted law school deans, media, etc. about the whole thing, and is now demanding that many threads referencing these people be deleted.
3) Speaking of the media, I'm told there's going to be a hit piece in a major newspaper sometime next week attacking both this site and me personally.
4) I discovered that a certain professor contacted faculty at a school where I had an LRev article accepted trying to... well, you can figure out the rest.
Given all that, can you understand why I might not have enjoyed being attacked by the board over something like this?

"no threats were made." Let's review:
BCB said:
Late last night rachmiel contacted me, asking if I would work with this board to improve it. I agreed that I would.
I shut my site down at the risk of being outed. Rachmiel knows my name, which probably wasn't difficult to figure out if he is able to look at all the posts from my IP under various monikers.
At the creation of BCB, I vowed to shut it down if I were ever outed or risked being outed. That's what has happened here.

well to be fair, you dont know exactly what were the terms of the outcome.
If you know someones real identity contacting them might be a way of getting their attention. sure its some leverage, but do you honestly believe rach or GTO would post the name of BCB? That would really fuck them more than having the competition would.

Just days before new mods were put in, GTO made a colossal error by not removing a mod who abused his power for the nth time. He is now on his 7th or 8th strike right now. And why wasn't he removed? Because he's a stubborn little shit who cannot admit to ever making an error.
And you think people are overreacting?
