BB is a decent value for money (though even more valuable if you get it on summer sale).
biggest value of BB is having THEM do the tailoring, and be an anal fuck until it comes out perfect (usually have them send my rack suits in at least twice for tailoring.. any good tailor will admit that even for them it takes two fittings to get it right. as such, with BB doing measurements, but then sending it out to a factory tailor, it definitely takes two fittings to get it right. seriously. insist when you go in to try on after one fitting, and they will do it. if they don't threaten to walk, pissed off. |

i agree that cheap suits at the jos banks level that are well-fitted can be gotten away with for interviews (at least screening interviews) because it takes a whole day for them to become a huge wrinkled mess (unlike mens wearhouse which get that way after an hour or two). but you don't want that jos a. banks shit as a summer. so why throw out $300. put that $300 towards the $800 suit. then, next summer, buy another one at BB summer sale for $500. (if this one you buy is navy, buy the other one in charcoal, or vise versa... wear black shoes with both, along with a NICE i.e. $50+ leather belt, and a good cotton dress shirt (BB non-iron a decent choice at $65 a piece). |

Maybe they all sucks compared to BB but I can't tell worth shit. The only difference I notice is that at men's wearhouse you're serviced by a dude who probably was working at McDonalds the prior week who has no idea about suits, at Jos Banks your services by a dude who probably was working at HR Block last week and knows not much about suits. I've never been to BB.
The only time I notice shitty suits is if they haven't been ironed or if they are obviously not wool. Sadly I see this in court all the time. Plaintiff's lawyers are fucking ghetto as fuck. |

I went to a mall not too far from my house with a lot of nice stores, like BB, Saks, Bloomingdales, Armani Exchange, and so on. I went into Brooks Brothers and looked at few things. The clothes were certainly nice, but I didn't notice a whole lot of difference from what I saw in there and what I saw in JCrew, or what I saw in Saks. The main difference was price. I didn't really notice the sales people, except I now realized they probably looked at me like I was wasting their time. I can't imagine caring a whole lot about who is selling me the clothes right now, because even though I'm trying to go for a more mature look, I still don't need to worry about professional clothes right now.
What are most suits made of?

difference between a cheap suit and a good suit is not how it looks when you put it on, but rather, how it looks when you move (how fabric hangs) and how it looks after 5 or 6 hours of wear (wrinkles and such).
as for ironing your suit - i hope to fuck you meant "steam" you fucking TTT.
if the suit isn't wool don't even consider it. but even TTT suits are wool. the key is how good the wool is.
the SOLE deciding factor in a cheap vs. good suit often comes down to the fabric. higher end suits help defray their costs because you dry clean them much less often and they last longer (They dont wrinkle - esp if you hang them after wear). |

i agree if you argued that a 2K suit might actually be a bad idea. the key is to shoot down the middle, in the $800-1000 range ($500 lowend if you go to BB summmer sale). i do think that an armani custom suit stands out in a bad way too (who the fuck he think he is?). |

If you air it out for at least a week and steam occasionally, high-quality wool does not retain odors (like sweat), unless you are a smoker or spill food on it.
(N.B. Spilling food or getting grease/oil on it is probably the only time you should get the suit professionally dry cleaned. The reason for this is that in addition to staining the fabric, the residue of dried food attracts moths. Reweaving even a small moth hole costs more than a $99 Men's Wearhouse special.) |

I assume you're talking about the 1818, and I don't think these are overpriced, even if you are buying them at retail, but seriously just wait for the sales.
BBs suits are way better, but don't get anything less than the 1818, such as a Brookease. |
