Over-rated, nothing much of interest, and the Madrilenos are nowhere near as gregarious/out-going as I would have expected. Also, outside of a few streets in the city core, it's quite non-descript. Many Latin American capitals are better.
Frankfurt is about as ascetic and lacking in personality as any place I've ever been.
London is Brooklyn redux...but with far uglier people and worse weather. |

The mix of Georgian, Victorian, and Edwardian buildings all throughout central London is very handsome and attractive, and I find London a much more pleasurable city on the eye than New York. The latter is decidedly more awe-inspiring, I will concede.
And no, London doesn't look like Brooklyn, not at all.
Want to rule out any Spanish, Dutch, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, and Belgian cities?
I like the royal aspect to British culture. It provides an undeniable stamp of personality and history that's missing from many other cultures. London without the royals would be unthinkable.
