1. Play in an event in the WSOP

2. Run with the Bulls or some other "tough guy" thing

3. Bench my body weight, squat 1.5 my body weight, deadlift 2x my body weight

4. Travel to 6 continents

5. Attend several major sporting events (Super Bowl, World Series, Olympics, World Cup)

6. Slept with 10 different women

7. Get an a physical fight (sanctioned, hopefully)

What about for you guys?

I don't/can't just go to the bar and fuck randoms . . . Since the average number of sexual partners for a man in his lifetime is 7, I think sleeping with 10 different people in your 20s is reasonable.

The SB sounds lame, with the security forcing you to arrive early, the long halftime show, the dead fans and neutral site...

Watching the US play a WC game would probably be fun though.

Fair point . . . I weigh 180 and can do 150 3x right now (I'm 3 weeks into my program).

My deadlift/squats are totally underdeveloped, so I'm really going to work on those.

I used to be a really good runner, so I'm not explosive/strong, so I'm trying to fix that.

bench isn't really all that relevant to how well someone can fight. Your goal should be 225 lbs. It won't be too hard to get there with some effort even with your running background.

150 3x projects pretty close to 180, btw. I'd say 165-180 max.

Good list . . .

To me, running a marathon is not impressive . . . it just takes some discipline.

For a guy, running a marathon under 3:30 is the acceptable/worthwhile standard.

Also, learning an additional language is fucking hard, especially in your 20s . . . and it just gets harder as you get older.

almost everything on a bucket list requires discipline and almost everything requires less discipline than what is required to run a marathon under 4 hrs (for most people). As a runner, you might be able to run a marathon under 4 hrs with month of training. Most can't.

I'm in decent shape (recently ran a sub 20:00 5k) and sincerely believe if I went out tomorrow, I could gut out a marathon in around 4:00.

I base this belief on my friend who is in slightly better shape than me (but, I'm a better runner, as in I'd win if we were both in peak shape) ran a marathon without specifically training for it. . . he ran it in 3:50. Granted, his joints were dead the next few days, but he did it.

2) do 1L BIGLAW, 2L BIGLAW, work in BIGLAW

3) smoke a Cuban cigar while drinking 25yo single malt scotch

4) fuck a girl 10 years younger than you

5) receive some sort of formal military training

6) play the Star Spangled Banner, start to finish, on electric guitar without mistake

2. I did work 1L Biglaw, 2L Biglaw (and will work in biglaw after clerking)

5. Agreed

I would make a list of lifetime goals and try to do as many as possible. probably pick the more physical ones for now since you're in your prime

I guess since I'm turning 29 in May, I'll have to make this a bucket list for my 30s.

1) Meet a good guy, get married and stay that way.

2) Run a sub-3 hour marathon (I currently run 3:04 so it's not at all a stretch). I suppose if I have 10 years to do it I'll just throw it out there and say I'd like to break 2:48 and qualify for U.S Olympic Trials, which would certainly make me the prestige and might help with #1.

3) Write a book (I have a few ideas)

4) Start a business (I have a few ideas)

5) Start re-discovering hobbies that I did in my youth, but discarded along the way (swimming, violin, equestrian events)

6) Be a better daughter and get to know my parents more in their old age despite how I often think we have nothing in common. Making a point to go home more will be a large part of this.

7) Stop being so talkative and verbal with my opinions about people and things (which might help with #1, according to my mother).

8) Stop being so hard on myself when I do something that requires me to later apologize

9) Learn how to grill as well as my dad does

10) Learn more about my family's history and the stories of my grandparents on both sides.

11) Travel to certain places that I find interesting (Burma, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Oman, Galapagos Islands, Antarctica).
