My first CDs were actually one of those get 8 for $1 specials with Columbia House or something.

Green Day - Dookie

TLC - CrazySexyCool

Blondie - Greatest Hits

can't remember the others

I would often buy tapes in the late 90s because they were a few bucks cheaper than CDs.

Those were the best. I was amazed by the options. It was such a tough choice figuring out which stamps to place on the return mailer. BUT 8 CDs FOR A DOLLAR!!!!! Unfortunately, it started sucking when your parents would yell at you for the subsequent $20.00 charges for the CD of the month. I was far too irresponsible to return a mailer every month declining that GOD DAMN CD OF THE MONTH!

So true. Memories. It was kinda sucky when I realized I had to BUY 6 CDs AT FULL PRICE WITHIN THE NEXT 3 YEARS. Lulz.

I think I ended up keeping the Real McCoy CD of the month.

I was suckered into that deal too. I was 13 or something and definitely not responsible enough to send back the CD of the month every month and amassed a huge bill.

In the end I wrote them an apology letter and they canceled my debt and membership. Because I was a minor, they couldn't hold me to the contract.
