The Raiders’ peak was the mid 1970s to early 1980s, which coincided with the modern cultural zenith of the Scumbag Clique (Dukes of Hazzard, Urban Cowboy, muscle cars, mechanical bulls, Southern Rock, etc).
The Raiders went into a steady decline since then, with a brief return to relevancy in the late 1990s/early 2000s. The Scumbag Clique also had a fleeting cultural renaissance during this time (Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, the first incarnation of Kid Rock, kicking the shit out of Losers at Woodstock ‘99).
Eventually, both the Raiders and the nation’s Scumbags moved to tacky new homes in Vegas. But they still can’t win, and only make ends meet by selling themselves to foreigners…the Raiders to opposing team fans buying tickets, Scumbags by selling their Labour to the “hospitality” industry. |
