he was a consummate gen-x'er. manic and pudgy, he lived his life fighting the political battles given to him by his Boomer overlords, and constantly sought affection, affirmation, and approval from top Boomers.

he never managed to establish a new or independent political identity for himself - he merely pranced around from one Boomer hot-button political/social issue to the next, selling his wares to Boomer-dominated media outlets, as if to say, "Mommy, mommy, look at me! Look at meeeeeeeee!"

this is the fundamental tragedy of generation X. they never did manage to break away from the patterns and ideologies set out before them by their elders. after a period of studied nonchalance and disengagement, they are coming back to the political fold, and they are - more often than not - aggressively pro-Boomer in their politics.

Yeah, meanwhile our generation will leap triumphantly out from the boomer clutches and establish and new order.

it's simply too early to tell, but initial signs are not so great.

this is true. but the Boomers force people to play by their rules. they still control everything. even Obama, who contrasted himself with Hillary and other Boomers ("I don't want to to re-litigate the 1960s"), has had to fall in line.

granted, Obama is technically a late Boomer himself.

being that I border that generation's tail end, OP is pretty sound on Breitbart.

i can't really think of any prominent gen-x politicians or political figures who are really standing up to the boomers and calling out the bullshittery of their politics. who does gen-x have? paul ryan? he's a huge boomer asslicker. marco rubio? asslicker. kirsten gillibrand, kelly ayotte, matt drudge? HUGE asslickers.

when, if ever, will gen-x stand up for ITSELF rather than its overlords?
