I take my stupid job too seriously. Won't go into too much detail, but I have a large workload where I feel burned out by the end of each day. Saturday is a recovery day. Sunday I feel somewhat better, but I can never truly relax. I think the root cause is that I'm responsible for a lot more than I was a few years ago, and as a result I have to grind through each work day without taking much of a break.

At the end of the day, my job is not that important: I'm not a doctor saving lives, a nurse treating the sick, etc. I've talked to my doctor a few times about my difficulties managing stress, and I think he described it better than I can: I work like I have a gun to my head. It's clearly not healthy, and it's taking a toll on me both physically and psychologically: I feel tired most of the time, don't feel refreshed after a weekend or even a vacation, stress eating has made me gain weight, etc.

My net worth is nearly $1M with no debt. I'm not living paycheck-to-paycheck. I'm not a doctor or paramedic saving lives. But I still live in fear of losing my job, still feel overwhelmed by my workload, etc. I don't know what to do.

You should double down on your job, have four kids, move to a house you cannot afford, buy cars that are just a wee bit too expensive, and let the rain fall down dear brother.

all success and peak performance as a man comes when you are most miserable

all peak athletes ended up hating their sport, fuck look at Jokic he doesnt give a fuck and clearly wants to be in serbia riding horses but is putting up literally greatest season of all time rn

Go solo and sue people. It’s a lot of fun. Also try getting blasted drunk (don’t do this every day)

Once the concept of “burnout” enters your thinking it’s over for you. It will happen and you will never recover.

Apply for SSDI now because it takes a while.
