I've been listening to Madonna's Like a Prayer, which partially resonates with me (her other songs currently do not). Yes, she meant the song to be transgressive and a blending of the sacred and the profane, and it was highly controversial when it came out (especially the racism-focused music video) but the non-chorus lyrics can be interpreted in a Jungian lens. Looking at the lyrics:

"Life is a mystery Everyone must stand alone" This resonates strongly.

"I hear you call my name And it feels like home" the Self calling vs the ego deciding.

"Like a child You whisper softly to me You're in control just like a child" same.

"It's like a dream No end and no beginning You're here with me it's like a dream" The irreality of life, shifting, uncertainty.

"Just like a muse to me, you are a mystery Just like a dream, you are not what you seem" Also resonant, the Self as mysterious, unreachable, only circumambulation.

The chorus of "When you call my name, it's like a little prayer I'm down on my knees, I wanna take you there In the midnight hour, I can feel your power Just like a prayer, you know I'll take you there" is catchy but not resonant, it’s too sexual and horizontally oriented.

My interpretation of the song is that Madonna (and/or her co-writer) touched upon the inner world, the swirling uncertainty of life and of the Self, but then clamped down on it with the egoistic, sexualized chorus in order to reassert conscious control. This pattern - genuine contact with inner world material followed by defensive ego reassertion - appears constantly in art, philosophy, and lived experience, because the inner Heraclitian flux is too unstable for most personality types to stably maintain.
