I read one of his books that was about how the Iraq War was a test case to see how many more of these things they'd be able to get away with. It was written in '04 iirc. I think his thesis proved wrong in the long term. The war was unpopular and we shifted from boots on the ground to proxy wars. It was a legit shot in the dark though.
