But I still hold my HS' two mile record and I was one of the few "all state" recipients in my sport ever

I also was literally a state "indoor" record holder in one event for years (they don't do indoor in GA so it was a unique all star meet but it was still a record). For years after kids who were way better than I ever was would get close to my record but not quite enough.

Explain why kids who were way better would get close to your record but not beat it.

And out your two mile time then and now.

it was early in the season, like January or Feb. I ran a 9:05 3000. Semi decent time but not one that would get on national rankings or anything. Every year I assumed it would get crushed but it didn't (until like 12 years later some kid beat it by 20 seconds). But prior to that kid all of these pre season HS all american types would run like 9:06-9:07 and shit, and my record would hold on.

I have a buddy who, in his 40s, still regularly pulls out digitized versions (from the original shitty VHS) of certain successful football plays that he was a part of in HS and watches them.

I played Baseball and Football in Hs. Baseball I hit one walk off and it was in the state semifinals. I pretty much won every game for my football team, we used to win by such a high margin that there weren’t really many “winning touchdowns.”

I was drafted for baseball by the Rockies but decided to play DI football instead. I was a defensive back and I have one “game winning” interception that I ran back for a touchdown. It was all over ESPN and a local highlight for almost a decade.

When I played on the NFL practice squad I pretty much dominated many of our games we played against other practice squads to keep sharp. But those weren’t recorded. The two real NFL games I got dressed for I only played one quarter total and had one tackle.

180. i didn’t ask about pros because most poasters probably didn’t ice many games at that level and the handful that did would likely be outable if they described it.

1 game winning tennis match, if game winning means you're the last singles match out there and the entire thing comes down to you.

most of the kids on the team hated me bc i was #1 singles and a pun (wonder why), but i was a hero that day

a few game winners and saves in indoor volleyball that went to state one year in low tier division

maybe 1-2 pickup game winning shots or easy fastbreak layups or outlets with some guys that went into nba and nfl 1st rd in grad school

never did shit on offense on soccer or indoor street hockey, always played sweeper

I once came in to pitch in the middle of an AB with bases loaded and 0 outs. Struck out the current batter and the next 2.

That was kooky as hell. Never saw anything like it happen again.

Kids nowadays dont realize how crazy it is to have all their sports activities documented. Plus the way it helps with training. Lucky bastards.
