They've made the same album over and over, only adding a little bit more disco each time.
The lyrics are basically the child of a depressed high school student's poetry that was conceived after scissoring an art history major at sarah lawrence, only there was still some semen from her professor on her labia and she got pregnant inadvertently and was too poor to pay for the abortion bc she's an art history major and he's a non-tenured professor.

it's all good. even the repetitive thing, though, is kind of a cop-out. at face value, it's compelling, but really you can say it about nearly every great band (LZ, Pink Floyd, Pavement,...). only a few bands have ever put out more than one solid and distinct album. off the off of my head, the beatles managed to go from sgt peppers, revolver and white album. and radiohead had kid a and ok computer. but really everyone else just made the same shit over and over, too.

Id be more inclined to look the other way if win butler wasnt such a preening cocksucker and if the lyrics weren't so absurdly trite.

I prefer The Strokes and Radiohead in this convo but agree that Arcade Fire is up there.
edit: misread the past decade as 2000s. Yep I guess Arcade Fire and Vampire Weekend are the best of relevant bands. I really like the War on Drugs last album too but they're not as prolific.
