Honestly it's funny the more I think about it there's a lot of repetition in all the versions. Variations of Glück, Glanz, brüderlich, blühen. Seems like they jumbled these around a bunch of times lol.
I think my favorite line of all is „von der Mass bis an die Memel, von der Etsch bis an die Belt” lmao. The Correct map of Germany. Anyways Haydn was a genius you can pretty much say anything. Love the baroque inspired melodic flourishes. |

It's absolutely insane that the US got so absurdly lucky in world war 2. The hypo was like what if our enemies destroyed each other in a cataclysm and we inherited unearned dominance over the entire planet and we got all their best scientists. It's just so kooky.
And it didn't have to happen all they needed was a free press and a better system of checks and balances and a culture that didn't worship war all the time and we'd all be speaking German. Or if Hitler has just built way more Uboots in the beginning and scrapped building giant destroyers and never pivoted to the Volga it would all be fine. |
