Had there been nuclear weapons restraining various actors, including ourselves, we would have had greater incentive to pursue stability, which would also funnel much more money back into the US instead of our military
I don't think there's any coherent defense for what we've done than "because we could" (or thought we could, at least), and that's not a recipe for long-term success |

A nuclear Iran would remove a ton of options from the table and likely we'd see other Arab states begin their own programs. The US must be the only nuclear power in the region. |

There are tons of Shia Persians but where the oil is along the Gulf is full of Sunni tribes and we have our favorite Kurds to the west. The US just needs a bad guy in the region so we have a reason that arabs are cool with us having bases there (even though the bases are really there so we can prevent their autocratic governments from being deposed).
Blockading Iran and stopping all of the discounted oil NOT sold in dollars from going to China is priority 1a. |
