For context, we had two significant health interventions in the last couple of years (pregnancy, cancer) and insurance worked great both times with no real hassle.
In the case of the cancer, we were able to get extremely cutting edge immunotherapy treatment that quite literally is not available in Canada or Europe. Billed for $50k per treatment but cost like $250 with insurance. The whole thing cost like $2500 over the course of a year due to our max out of pocket. Even less when you factor in using an FSA for deductibles.
Maybe it's just a Reddit thing but people are acting like healthcare in the US is terrible and people are dying in the streets due to cost or something. Also apparently like 80% of Americans are satisfied with their health insurance so this whole thing just seems like flame.
