Maybe I'm overreacting because of his Disastrous Irish phenotype, but he's always come across as a bumbling idiot across both series. He also often serves as the foil for a moral lesson with his shitty, unethical takes.

Further, while Keiko is obviously awful, I don't think she'd be like that if he weren't such a little bitch.

Don't get me wrong, he's a great character; I enjoy his constant misfortune and contentious marriage. Just saying he's TTT as a person.

Is he just filler? 2nd most appearances of any Star Trek character. It sounds though like you like to hate him. Maybe he's a worthy character even though he sucks as a person.

Edit:

Given how much you hate the characters on Seinfeld if he were a Seinfeld character would you still hate him or would he be an improvement over the canonical 4

180 ya he lives in space. I agree he's kind of milquetoast. I think they put him in so many episodes because he's inoffensive. And then because he's so boring the writers were probably like let's give him a dark side.

Who is the better Hapa space couple, Miles and Keiko or Chief and Sharon "Boomer" Valerii from BSG.

I haven't watched BSG yet but I want to!

Honestly I think it's hilarious how shitty Miles and Keiko's relationship is, so I love them. I really enjoy every scene they're in. Is it supposed to be funny or is it intended sincerely as part of Miles' long-suffering shtick?

BSG is 180. Did I ever tell you about it the time I met Ronald D Moore?

Don't want to doobs myself too much but long story short I met him randomly in public. I didn't know who he was but this turbo nerd I was with recognized him. He ended up talking to me about his divorce and what it was like to coparent his daughter with his ex wife. So random lol. Same guy who wrote BSG also wrote many episodes of TNG and DS9.

During his time on Deep Space Nine, he continued to write episodes that expanded on Klingon culture such as "The House of Quark", "Sons of Mogh", "Rules of Engagement", "Looking for par'Mach in All the Wrong Places", "Soldiers of the Empire", "You Are Cordially Invited..." and "Once More Unto the Breach". He also wrote episodes that dealt with controversial subjects such as genetic engineering ("Doctor Bashir, I Presume?"), co-wrote the episode that featured Star Trek's first same-sex kiss ("Rejoined") and killed off another popular character, Vedek Bareil Antos ("Life Support").

I just watched a few clips of DS9. I realized how boring the show would be without the ever-present bleeps and bloops of the ship in the background of every dialog scene. The sound engineer who makes all those little ear wiggles is the real hero.

BSG is kind of a boring action show for the first two seasons and then in Season 3 it gets all political and in Season 4 it gets metaphysical and philosophical. I think the latter eps are my favorite. It sort of devolves into Neo-Platonism. Tp.
