I personally have not seen a cruise for $300. I think singles all join up and go together and each pay only for themselves which could be doable for maybe $1500 apiece if they time it exactly right and book well in advance. Also the more you go on the better rates you get for everything, like internet and casino credit and size of room.
This is basically all what I learned from my dad who loves this dumb crap. He is also an expert on free weekends in Vegas and Nashville from timeshare presentations which he declines to purchase at the end of the trip. |

Dad doesn’t have any filter and when we’d go to dinner he’d say things like “man that girl has got shoulders like a linebacker” and “not too many blacks at the early dinner seating” and stuff like that. He’d also point at people. I kept telling him to act right and he’d try for a few minutes and then he’d forget and comment on some chick’s big ass.
Seems like he had fun. We stopped in Bimini Nassau and this ridiculous island w a beach only for cruise passengers. |

He can be difficult, as all men are in their 80s. But I kept him upbeat and urged him not to be critical of everything. He gets anxious at times too so I’d have to remind him to chill.
He opted for the 5 pm dinner option every night which was lulzy. |

Mostly during the afternoons I would go to the upper deck serenity zone and read a novel I really am enjoying. It’s the prequel to Lonesome Dove. The whole series is 180 as hell and I’m speaking as a serious reading nerd. I’d have some pina colada and just chill. |

I will do another cruise to Bermuda later this year. Also w carnival. Not because I want to but because that was the travel option my kid jumped on. I offered him a cruise or a family trip to Ireland. He said “cruise!” before I even finished describing the second option. Lol. Said his friend went on a cruise and loved it and so he wanted to do it too.
So I am doing this dumb thing again with Carnival in just a couple months. Same ship, even. Just the destination is different. Bermuda, not Bahamas. |

There was a buffet and a hamburger stand and a pasta place and a fake Asian place. 24 hour frozen yogurt. All of the foregoing is included in basic price. The cheese burgers and thin crust pizza were especially good. There was a formal dining place for dinner every night which is included in base price and includes steak and lobster at least one night. You can pay more and go to a specialty steak place or Italian place one night if you want also.
Entertainment included a 45 minute laser light show w “classic rock” performances and a piano bar (terrible/fake) and acoustic music in the main lobby and kareoke (god awful). They had live soul music for old black people and also some standup comedy shows that were honestly not bad even if a little bit dated. They played a few movies on the big screen on the upper deck at night.
There were two pools and hot tubs and waterslides climbing wall basketball volleyball shuffleboard foosball pingpong all that crap also. The teens both white and black would come out at night and push each other into the hot tubs and yell and carry on a bit but it wasn’t that bad.
The only time I saw really drunk people was when I saw three hillbilly white dudes drunk af in a comedy show.
There were several quite autistic people w family members on the cruise and they seemed to be having a good time with their family and caretakers. |

I will say that with old dads they get more annoyed with morbid obesity and slovenliness and tattoos generally than with black people per se. And those issues aren’t limited to any one race. At least that’s my first hand experience. Old dads just like feeling superior and complaining about how the country is going to the toilet now and they can say that from any cruise from any company. |
