wife prefers history over nature / scenery / backwards culture / animals. and i think we both want somewhere untouristed. and we both prefer somewhere where we're not having to stay in a new city every almost every night.
is there enough history stuff in the south pacific without moving around too much? |

It is nature / scenery / backwards cultures. and a lot of water-based activities like fishing and scuba diving. I really enjoyed it and there are very few other visitors but it doesn't match your criteria. Honestly, you haven't been traveling much lately, when you start again you may be horrified at how the world is even more flooded with oceans of tourists than even only a few years ago. There are fewer and fewer places with interesting history stuff but without floods of tourists. But consider a few days in your ancestral homeland. Lisbon is full of tourists in the obvious places but just walk 100 yards away and that changes. And it's a really nice place. Rent a car and go to southern Spain as well. That could be a pretty good easy trip back into traveling. |

we haven't been to the balkans or the baltics, in terms of euro history. also havent even done poland; lots of jew shit there, but the poles are supposed to be awful and all that shit is overcrowded.
is the history in indonesia interesting, or just the same temple shit as elsewhere in SE asia?
i'd like to do madagascar but no history there.
