he needs the venezuelan people to rise up and overthrow the communist party, to be a replaced by a "democractic" government that violently suppresses communism for several years until they're dead in the dirt or at least relegated to the jungle. that will be the nasty and prolonged part. only then will the oil majors invest in that shithole.

the oil infra is so furked up it will take $50b of investments to fix, and if US comps did that they wld just be raping their investments in US/Canadian oil

and on top of that MAGA farm animals pretend this is a loss for china but if u actually did get the oil online guess who u must have buying some of it?

increasingly they need less oil but they still are the biggest importer, so VEN oil wld be ok russia i dont think can supply everything and not sure they even have a proper pipeline with russia yet

50% of cars are EV now once it gets even lower maybe their oil ebcomes secondary issue

Light touch. Remove most of the top power structure but leave the body intact. No/few troops on the ground. Instant inject of cash (most will disappear due to fraud, but whatever), while oil companies sort out how to shift the country back over to US system.

There are a ton of existing contracts overlayed on those oil fields that overlap from prior violations during the past two decades. I hope that doesn't slow things down. They'll need to start the flow of coke back to the EU asap not flame. EU banks and narco types are the Iraq insurgency here.

Yep. Profiteering is handled by private actors. I think that's a bit jaded given how there are lots of benefits to this arrangement for all involved, but that's the gist. Western capitalism is the casino and we can't let all that oil money sit on the sidelines. Open the market up and have them try their hand at the blackjack table. We all know how those odds work. You can't just fucking steal it.
