In a sense, overnight, we lost two decades of board history. Because an autist decided to mention XO on datelab for blank bumps and another autist with an evil heart then outted him.

Being able to go back into threads like a living record, see the interactions, was an underappreciated part of what made XO sing.

4. Spam. General incoherent spam ("Spaceporn" "ZZZ" Bunch of other weird intractable feuds, Nyuug, "I still unload" "WLMAS" "Obeezy" "whok" many more forgettable spammy/subthread wastelandy ones I cant recall, just ruin the board at a glance & it stops being an interesting place to visit

5. brigades driving off good posters (gunner and co chasing off FLW) loads of posters, lawman etc, people who at least contributed in some form just being mean spiritedly brigaded by 0 value spammers. Many good "named" posters disappearing "quiet quitting" slowly as the 105 iq gunner crowd started to dig in deep. Where is Dr Cool? Buck the Club? Etc. These people were mainstays. Loads of other good posters have significantly reduced their contributions. People like hank_scorpio. The "lesser known less flashy" mid level guys who kept this place steady for years and flew under the radar, you really feel it when they go.

Ive been posting here for 20 years & can't quickly distinguish between random quotemos/pumos as recognizable "spammers" but somehow people are able to and the feuds continue + retarded 100iq drivel here just makes it boring and gay

1. too much spam, mostly political in nature. Not limited to libs, but there is a lib pumo who poasts so much boring unfunny shit and it just bogs the board down. NSAM can poast on interesting topics but 97% of the time he does not and it sucks. Spaceporn actually keeps the place going-- it is at least lively when he posts.

2. Good poasters melting away, whether because of outing, moving on in life, or sick of the board sucking. I have been here more than 20 years and still can't remember monikers or follow who is who, but smart, funny posters are rarer than they used to be. I think FLW poasts under another moniker, maybe even in this thread. We need more posters like FLW.

the spammers know that they can spam this board forever, as much as they want, with no repercussions. it's actually amazing and kind of cool/impressive that this board has managed to last as long as it has, despite this. it would kill virtually any other community

i mean at any given day and time, literally half the threads on the front page are spam. and a lot of us still come here and create good content and enjoy it. that's pretty wild and doesn't exist anywhere else. as soon as other internet hangouts become compromised by hostile outsiders, they're completely dead within a few months

twitter becoming a better version of xo is really only a symptom of the spam making xo worse. i've enjoyed xo a lot more ever since implementing the moniker blocking script. everyone who still actively uses this forum should be using it

every single person should be running the blocking script. i used to complain about the spam here a lot and it was kind of cringe. i should have just manned up and used AI to create a blocking script like the progenitor of it did
