I never plan on retiring and it makes no sense to have a net worth goal. If I had to give one, gun to my head, I’d say $10m.

I calculated that at retirement I plan to move to France, where owning a lot of property isn't good for your taxes. I may keep my condo in usa. I may also buy an apt in Moscow without reporting it. And will rent in france. I think a good tax rate is 100k/yr for 401k to roth conversions and the rest needs to be cap gains/dividends from brokerage and to keep cap gains under 15%+niit, max is 600k income. In order to get 600k I need to hold about 5million in qqqi. So maybe I'll get there at 50.

full retirement probably $10m. we are at $2.5m in retirement accounts and around 500k in taxable investment accounts. we have enough that i'd be comfortable cutting back to a lower paying job anytime because by the time we are 60, the 2.5 mil should be well over 10 million.

my current plan is to do the firm another 3 years and then either hang out a shingle as a labor arbitrator or go in house. not sure about the latter bc i haven't had a boss in 7 years and i don't react well to someone having authority over me. we'll see what unfolds.

Qqq has over 10% avg return. That means if you want to stay in 15% capital gains bracket you only need to accumulate 5mil to withdraw 500k-600k in perpetuity.

It really requires looking into total returns. How much qqq do you actually need to yield 500k income. And must realize that trying to yield more is stupid. 500k is perfectly enough in retirement.

500k is fine, but any investment that you're telling me will throw off 500k a year off $5m sounds like it could shit the bed and you could lose everything

If you have 50% qqq and 50% qqqi just don't sell qqq during a bad year. I.e. that might mean during that year make 300k instead of 500k.
