Started out playing it and CS around the same time.

Eventually ended up playing more CS around Beta 6.

I was l, quite literally, probably the number one conosour of Half Life mods in this era. I played literally all of them, even the ones that never builtt up a player base and it was just me playing with the devs for a few weeks before the mods died.

TFC was the first game I booted up after getting a cable modem. Was 180 that the snipers laser actually tracked my cross hairs, instead of delaying 0.5 seconds behind.

I was quite active in some CS forums starting back in 99. Especially the "Off topic" section of one of them. Eventually got banned, but it helped boost my addiction to forums. (Although I started being active on forums around age 10 before this)

Heroes 3: The spiritual predecessor to City of Heroes

Grand Theft Auto 2: a game that 280k people bought that 5 million people on the internet say they played

Team Fortress Classic: A triumph but idk how to use Grenades to jump around as Soldier etc

Half-Life: Opposing Force: I played this and blue shift. AI in HL was legendarily Engineered btw

EverQuest: Todd Howard’s favorite MMO. Sony Published

NHL 2000: ask a Jock

Fleet Command: never heard of it

Rogue Spear: has a cool cover with an Operator in white. Visually striking box art. One of those games that just exists as a box art, like Maximum Carnage

Re GTA 2 — there was a free demo version where you only had a few minutes to live before you exploded.

Many poors/scumbags played the demo without buying the full game; could explain some of the discrepancy between the number of purchases and those who "say they played."

Planescape: Torment- never played, I think it is an RPG? I was a jock

Heroes 3 -never heard of it

Grand Theft Auto 2 - pirated this on pc and played it a bit it was a fun novelty to fuck around on but never did any missions

Team Fortress Classic - amazing game played a lot of multiplayer I liked to be a spy and disguise myself as the other team and then knife their snipers. Played capture rhe flag on 2fort exclusively. Tried Team Fortress 2 years later and it seemingly had no relation to it at all and I didn't know wtf was going on

Half-Life: Opposing Force - like half life 1 campaign but a little worse

EverQuest - never played this but a friend showed me how he'd list auctions selling leveled up accounts for this on ebay and then ebay would pull the listing cause you weren't allowed to sell virtual goods. But people would email and offer to buy it anyways, for like $300 which gave them no buyer protection. So he just pocketed the money and made thousands of dollars. The account never actually existed

NHL 2000 - spent like 3 months in egypt playing this on a laptop I think I played a full season and scored like 90 goals with Rob Blake slap shots

Fleet Command - no idea

Rogue Spear - rainbow six I think I tried this but it was too "milsim" for my tastes

Quake III Arena - never played it I was an Unreal guy at this point iirc

Planescape: Torment - supposedly a classic. In my Backlog that I bought for $5

Heroes 3 - never played

Grand Theft Auto 2 - don't know anyone who actually played this

Team Fortress Classic - tons of fun

Half-Life: Opposing Force - very fun

EverQuest - only nerds played this, no idea

NHL 2000 - hockey games suck, never played

Fleet Command - never heard of it.

Rogue Spear - by far my favorite on this list. I played the shit out of this game, its my favorite Rainbow Six entry (although I liked Rainbow Six 3 a lot too). Brutally difficult, like sometimes instant death the moment you open a door

Quake III Arena - fun

Everquest or WOW would have one-shotted me and completely hijacked my dopamine cycle if I ever got involved with those. But I was somewhat phenotype aware and saw the kinds of people who played those games, and wanted no part of all that.
