She goes out in the sun in the morning, hangs out in the shade around noon, then goes back in her grotto for like 8 hours like a human being. You can tell she's sleeping too because she doesn't react to external movement, only vibration. If you approach the terrarium when she's awake she'll notice you coming from any direction and react. She did it with the last two bugs I fed her: spent a good few hours eating them, then hung up the little dessicated bits in her random webby thing she has going at the top of the enclosure. I've read that some jumping spiders use their molted exoskeleton to decorate their webs but this one uses the carcasses of her prey.
I can try to get a pic of the house when there's daylight again, but it's not really visible under normal light. It's thin webbing between a transparent plexiglass panel and a 4 inch piece of bark.
Right now I think I may let her go in a few weeks when I have to go out of town. She can go a long time without food but she needs water, so I would have to ask a neighbor. And honestly I think it's better if she goes out there any finds a mate. If she rejects a male she will eat him, so if I catch another one I'll just put it in the terrarium where I kept this one.
I've also decided against taking lots of pics because she doesn't like the camera lens. It looks like a giant eye so I don't blame her. She's just chilling, looking at me, then this giant eye appears and she runs away. |

One is kind of hard to see against the leaf. That's not anywhere near where she ate or killed them. She sat on the side panel and ate them for hours without moving and inch, then when I came back the next day they were strung up there like that. There's a little bit of coir fiber strung up there too, which I think she carried up there. I've seen coir fibers in weird places lately.
Seriously, she is so fat in that pic compared to when I found her. Her abdomen was barely visible. Now I feel guilty, like I've overindulged her. That may be why she started decorating the place. |

In a few pics you can see the second little nest she built up in the corner. That's where she hangs out during the day when it's sunny. In the afternoon she goes back to her main stay behind the bark.

I set up a housefly trap this morning, and as soon as I catch a housefly I'm going to put it in the fridge and let it get cold so I can pick it up with tongs and put it in there. However long it takes me to catch a housefly, that's how long she has to wait. I'll also feed her stink bugs or drain flies if I see any.
