Can't disclose who / why I got the info -- but here's the info:
As part of the investigation, an allegation was made that either the CEO and/or the HR shrew had taken MDMA and that their intimacy either resulted from or was connected with being on MDMA -- and more specifically that she had been starting to have a "freak out" and he was comforting her for that reason.
But it's disputed as to whether that's true. The likely scenario may be that they came up with the MDMA cover-story for their spouses (not intending for it to be used for the company investigation) and then they backtracked on it when they realized it would hurt the company investigation. (Ie. merely holding the HR shrew from behind was not proper grounds for "for cause" termination, but taking MDMA was)
