You have massive splits in the rural a going to Trump, which makes up a majority of voters. Then you have suburbs most of which are 50/50, and cities which have a Dem majority but most cities are a 60/40 split, and you only see the sort of fanatical 70/30, 80/20 urban splits in California and the Northeast. And in the South even major cities are closer to 50/50. If you look at a lot of the rural counties that vote hard for Trump, most of them are above 90% white.
So in summation, you have a majority of the country that is either deeply conservative rural white, moderate conservative suburban, or urban from an area that isn't super hard left. That describes most people. And cities while still blue many are pulling back from their more fanatical days of blisteringly high dem voter splits.
It is safe to say that mainstream news publications look at most people and go, I have no interest whatsoever in what you have to say, what your views are, and I'm not going to make the slightest attempt to find common ground. They are actively turning a blind eye to the concerns of most people in America. They're not trying at all. So yes, there must be some ulterior motive. |
