In my opinion bands do this because they don't have a lot of songwriting talent. If they were better they'd be like The Beatles. I think good songs will always win in the end. But it's a lot harder to be Kurt Cobain than it is to play this goofy shit. |

Like say what you want about Tame Impala but they have huge hits. They're in the top 50 streamed acts in the entire world. So they can go on tour and fill arenas and they have like 10 really famous songs. Doesn't that draw a lot more of an audience and command a higher ticket price? Than some weirdos banging on pots and pans who went viral one time on KEXP?
BTW the last several shows I've been to very few people were buying merch. Seems like the market has shifted on this somehow. Maybe the direct to consumer method is favored? |
