no, just a company that produced acetate masters, not the vinyl records people buy at retail

Yeah but the Japanese masters don't sound the same, so all vinyl records made from now on will sound different from what Americans are accustomed to. Vinyl records as we know them went extinct when this factory assploded

wtf do you mean "don't sound the same?" you schizo gook?

they are literally producing the MASTERS of whatever the vinyl manufacturer sends them. this is like saying photocopies will never be the same if xerox went out of business and only canon remained.

I'm not the one making the claim. Take it up with the people who collect vinyl records. They say the Japanese ones sound "tinny" compared to the old American-made ones.

This is what people were saying when America still made the discs:

“There are only two companies worldwide that produce lacquers. One of these companies is a one-man operation in Japan run by an old man who produces the lacquers in his garage. It’s excellent quality, but who knows how much longer he can and especially will want to continue to do this. When we are in contact with him, we attempt to order as many lacquers as we can in order to stock up as much as possible. You don’t really know when you will reach him again. The other company is in the USA and serves a large portion of the market. It is practically a monopoly. This is not good for business.”

The chemicals are explosive and have to be treated as HAZMAT. That's why no one will rebuild the US factory. Americans don't want to work in places that can explode, and that have a recent history of burning down. Russia doesn't have this problem for whatever reason but they are also aren't into vinyl records and bombs are probably more lucrative rn
